What ClipVault stores
ClipVault stores the text, links, images, and files you choose to save, together with organization details and recent-use information. The native iOS build keeps local copies in the app’s private container and uses a shared App Group only for the optional Share Extension and keyboard index. If you sign in, your account identifiers and library are stored in a private Supabase project. When Apple sign-in revocation is configured, an encrypted Apple refresh token is kept server-side only to revoke that authorization if you delete your account.
What we collect
ClipVault does not sell saved content or use it for advertising. Automatic titles, summaries, categories, and tags are generated locally first. When server-side Cloud AI is configured, a clip not marked Exclude from Cloud AI may send its title and saved or extracted text to the configured AI provider. If a separate embedding provider is configured, saved-text chunks and cloud-search queries may also be sent to that provider. Clips marked Private are not sent for AI enrichment. Anonymous mode is supported; signing in with Apple enables an account-backed library.
Clipboard, sharing, and files
- ClipVault reads the clipboard only after you choose a Paste action.
- Copy writes the selected item to the system clipboard.
- Share opens the browser or iOS system share flow only after you choose Share.
- Files are processed locally first and may be uploaded to the private cloud bucket only when cloud sync is configured and you are signed in.
- The optional ClipVault keyboard provides a standard typing layout plus a saved-clip browser, so you can type normally and search and insert clips. Text you type goes into the app you’re using; the same keys also filter the clip list while you search. Without Full Access, you can type, browse synced clips, and insert synced text. Full Access enables shared clip updates and clipboard actions such as saving selected text and copying a clip. The keyboard does not record or send keystrokes to a server.
Cloud search records
Cloud search processes the words you enter to find matching clips. ClipVault records the search length, result count, time, and account ID for each cloud search; it does not save the search phrase in that event record. If a server-side embedding provider is configured, the search phrase is also sent to it to create a search vector.
Retention and deletion
Your local library remains until you delete it. Settings includes controls to clear this device and to delete an account. Account deletion removes the authenticated account, synced library records, cloud files, and local copies from the device. For privacy questions or deletion assistance, email hello@infotik.co.
